Twin Building with a Double Purpose

For passers-by, the new administrative and production building of the company Gira provides the perfect insight into the open and modern way the medium-sized company works thanks to the fact that it is made entirely of glass. The striking building was designed by Düsseldorf-based Ingenhoven Overdiek Architects: twelve steel transverse axes of the two parallel buildings are covered by a skin of glass façades. Free of supports and partitions, the production area on the ground floor ensures a high degree of flexibility and flowing transitions from administration and production. The demands made of both the atmosphere and the acoustics logically led to carpet being chosen as the ideal floor covering. Eco underlines the friendly colour concept and the lightness of the premises whilst at the same time providing a non-slip surface. Invista’s Antron Legacy fiber has dirt-repelling characteristics that ensure Eco looks good for so long. The woven carpet contrasts the hardness of the materials glass and steel with warmth and serenity.
